The resulting fleece layer is stabilized using a thermobonding process. Next, the fleece is fed into a film extruder, where a functional layer – typically a polymer film produced by melt-blown technology – is applied. The hot film adheres directly to the surface of the fleece, creating a tight, layered bond. The bilaminate thus produced performs excellently both mechanically and functionally, and can also be subjected to biaxial stretching if required.
