| General comment on data set | AB “Dolomitas” products are manufactured in the Petrašiūnai quarry, Pakruojis District, Lithuania. It is an average EPD covering all aggregate products manufactured at the declared production site. This declaration is covering: · fine aggregates (fractions 0/2, 0/5, 0/5CDE); · coarse crushed aggregates (fractions 2/5, 2/8, 2/11, 2/32, 4/16, 5/8, 5/11, 5/16, 5/22, 5/32, 5/45,5/56, 5/63, 8/11, 8/16, 8/45, 11/16, 11/22, 16/22, 16/32, 16/45, 16/56, 22/32, 22/45, 22/56, 32/56, 32/63, 45/80); · crushed dolomite Class I (0/2I, 0/5I, 2/5I, 4/16I, 5/8I, 5/16I, 5/11I, 8/11I, 11/16I, 11/22I, 16/22I); · fine and crushed dolomite mixtures Class I (0/8I, 0/11I, 0/16I); · fine and crushed dolomite mixtures (0/8, 0/11, 0/16, 0/22, 0/32, 0/45, 0/56, 0/63, 0/80); · fine and crushed dolomite mixtures Class II (0/32II, 0/45II, 0/56II, 0/63II); · dolomite railway ballast (31.5/63). The products are high-quality washed and crushed dolomite aggregates used for road and ground subbases, asphalt concrete mixtures, asphalt surface treatments, railway ballast, reinforced concrete structures, construction concrete, rock wool production and as filler in dry construction mixtures. Product composition: 100% dolomite rock (CaMg(CO₃)₂). During module A3, explosives, cutting saws and oil are not used as direct ancillary materials. The manufacturing stage consists only of mechanical processes such as crushing, screening and washing. Prior to module A3, rock fragmentation is carried out using explosives during the quarry extraction stage. This service is provided by a state-owned third-party entity in Lithuania. Accordingly, the use of explosives is allocated to the upstream process stage (A1 – raw material supply/extraction) and is therefore not included in the calculations for module A3. Small quantities of oil and lubricants may be used for equipment operation and maintenance. However, these are considered maintenance-related inputs, largely provided through external service contractors, and are not directly allocated to the declared unit. Therefore, they are not included in module A3. The products comply with the requirements of EN 12620, EN 13043, EN 13242, EN 13285 and EN 13450. AB Dolomitas produces high-quality washed dolomite crushed stone of all fractions, dolomite screenings, dolomite screenings and crushed stone mixtures that meet European standards. Dolomite products are used for road and site base construction, asphalt concrete mixtures for road construction, asphalt surface treatment, railway ballast, reinforced concrete structures, building concrete, rock wool, fertilizers, and glass production. Technical data: Product components: dolomite rock 100% (CaMg(CO3)2). Gross density of product 2740 kg/m3. The bulk density of crushed stone is 1,400–1,600 kg/m3. Full information of products and their performances are published in Declarations of performance (DoP) issued by the manufacturer AB “Dolomitas”. The assessment and verification of constancy of performance system used is 2+. Certificate of conformity of the factory production control No. 1325-CPR-1215 is issued by the notified body AS Inspecta Latvia. The quality level of geographical representativeness can be considered “good”. The quality level of technical representativeness can be considered “good”. The time representativeness can also be regarded as “good”. The overall data quality for this EPD can, therefore, be described as “good”. All relevant process-specific data were collected during data collection. In all possible cases, primary data from the customer were used, which has very good data quality because it comes directly from the source. In addition, secondary data from the EcoInvent database (2019, version 3.9.1) was used when no primary data could be supplied. The database is checked regularly and, therefore, meets the requirements of DIN EN ISO 14040/44 (background data not older than 10 years). The background data meets the requirements of EN 15804+A2. The quantities of raw materials, consumables and supplies used and the energy consumption were recorded and averaged over the entire operating year. The general rule that specific data from certain production processes or average data derived from certain processes must take precedence when calculating an EPD or LCA was adhered to. Data for processes over which the manufacturer has no influence were assigned to generic data/scenarios. When selecting these, care was taken to always choose the data set/scenario that most realistically represents the processes. Estimates and assumptions were made in accordance with EN 15804 and ISO 14044 where primary data were not available. It was assumed that production conditions are representative of normal operation. These assumptions are not expected to significantly influence the overall environmental impact results. This study complies with the principles of modularity and polluter-pays in accordance with EN 15804+A2 and the applicable PCR. |
